Privacy Policy

Summary

Smolder is a private app for two consenting adults who are already together. It is not a dating app and has no public profiles, feeds, or stranger chat.

Play content you keep on one phone — custom prompts you write, and photos you save to Memories — stays on that device. Couple features (Whisper, Daily Dual, Soft Spots, Love Notes) sync between the two accounts you link with Couple Link after Sign in with Apple. Only those two partners can read that shared content. Nearby mode can still talk phone-to-phone when you are together.

We still integrate platform services (Sign in with Apple, Apple in-app purchases) and, where enabled in the app, third-party SDKs such as Google Mobile Ads for rewarded video. This policy explains those flows in plain language.

Information we do not collect as a social network

• We do not offer public profiles, a discovery feed, or chat with anyone other than the partner you link.
• Custom prompts you create in the app are stored locally on your device only.
• Memories (photos you choose to save from supported flows) are stored locally; they are not uploaded to our servers. You can lock them behind Face ID on the device.

Sign in with Apple & Couple Link

To sync Dual, Soft Spots, Love Notes, and Whisper when you are apart, each partner signs in with Apple and joins the same Couple Link (invite code or QR). Apple authenticates the account; we receive an Apple-provided user identifier and, if you choose to share it, a relay email — not your Apple password.

Play (decks, dice, spin, scratch) works from one phone without linking. Linking is what lets the two of you use the same Dual, notes, and Whisper thread across devices.

Whisper and other couple sync

Whisper is a private thread for your linked pair. Messages and attachments sync between those two accounts so chat works when you are apart. Only you and your partner can read them. We do not operate a public chat server or show your messages to other users.

Optional Nearby mode can still use Apple's local networking (Bluetooth / local Wi‑Fi) when both phones are together. Treat that like any close-range transfer: only pair with someone you trust.

Daily Dual answers, Soft Spots, and Love Notes sync the same way — between the two linked accounts, not to a wider audience. Lock Screen notifications are teasers only (for example, that they sent a Whisper). They do not include the message body.

Apple in-app purchases (StoreKit)

When you buy a subscription or non-consumable product, Apple processes payment and provides us with transaction identifiers and subscription status through StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.

Auto-renewing subscriptions: Subscription terms, billing frequency, and cancellation are managed in your Apple ID account settings. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of the current billing period unless stated otherwise by Apple.

Advertising & analytics

The app may offer optional rewarded video ads (for example, to earn in-app tokens). Those ads are served through the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). Depending on your choices and Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, the ad SDK may access device advertising identifiers or similar signals as described in Google's and Apple's documentation.

Apple may also provide aggregated crash diagnostics or analytics when you opt in at the OS level. We use that information to improve stability.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we may send local or remote alerts for Dual, Slow Burn, Love Notes, and Whisper. Remote alerts are privacy-safe teasers and do not include message text.

Age requirement

Smolder is intended only for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Legal bases & retention (EEA/UK framing)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on contract (to provide the app and purchases), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), and consent (where required for tracking or ads), as applicable. Because most play content stays on-device, and couple content is scoped to your linked pair, we do not run a social graph. Purchase records obtained via Apple are retained according to Apple's policies and our accounting/legal obligations. Couple-synced data is kept while your Couple Link is active and deleted when you request deletion (see Delete my data).

Your rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to processing. Write us on the Support page. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

International users

If you use Smolder outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our processors operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be surfaced in the app or on the App Store listing where appropriate.
